It’d be cool to donate blood, but I don’t think I’m willing to miss class for it. >.>
My mom was home today, so I didn’t have to walk through the freezing afternoon wind. :] She asked me about my shoes, because she wants to buy running shoes for some reason. Her birthday’s coming up, so I think my aunt’s going to try to find her a pair. I should draw her something. She’s wanted an orchid drawing for the longest time, but I’ve never drawn one for her… I’d tote my pastels home, but the colors are so limited. D:
Have much to do tonight: APUSH vocab & practice test, free response, volume worksheet, study for Japanese quiz and APUSH essay.
Apparently, our part-time nanny is quitting, and tomorrow is her last day. I don’t understand why she can’t just finish the week before leaving us. -_- Even if Thursday was a minimum day for me, I wouldn’t make it home before my brother & sister do. And the earliest my mom can get home is like 4:00.
Went to Jamba Juice after school today. There was this one couple who came in with their little toddler, who had a kind-of mohawk! It wasn’t gelled up or anything, but the sides of his head were shaved, leaving this strip of long hair in the middle. It looked good too, haha. He was so cute! xD
Tutoring was interesting though. Kevin Tran who goes to SJSU came to visit (I don’t know him, but I’m sure I’ve seen his face before). We talked about college and classes and funny Billy Kwong stories. xD
Everyone seems to have changed their goals. She doesn’t want to become a lawyer anymore? We’re going to change our minds with the more classes we take? I can’t imagine what I’d change my mind to..
In Chinese class today, we learned how to say “I love you” in that northern Chinese dialect (Shanghainese?). It sounds like “wei-no.” The girl in the S.H.E MV for 我愛你 says it at the end, and our teacher actually looked up the video to show us. All because I asked what 江浙調 means.
We went bowling at 300. Played about 3 games. Then we walked to Round Table. Too much oily food. x_x Played games (and lost a lot of them) like と言ったら in English (because Viet was the only one who wasn’t taking Japanese). After we were full of pizza and cake (and buffalo wings, in Danielle’s case), we headed to Oakridge across the street. Bought our tickets for the How to Train Your Dragon 3D. Then we walked around the mall for a bit. I wanted those shirts from Old Navy, and I was looking at their bags, too. Anyway, the movie was great. :D I was surprised to find that Jay Baruchel voices Hiccup (the main character). He was in Tropic Thunder, which I just watched yesterday. He’s also going to be in The Sorcerer’s Apprentice with Nicolas Cage. :o We went to Borders afterwards.. I bought a set of flash cards for APUSH and saved about $8 when I finally decided to get a Borders Rewards card. xP
My eye hurts, and now I’m hella scared that something’s wrong. Dani said that if you overlap two of those 3D glasses, it looks blue & red,en so I did that, looking up at the light in the theater. If it’s not that, then it’s the chemicals in water that got into my eye this morning while I was watering flowers. >.o

So my friend M wanted to ask this guy, A, out to junior prom, but she’s too afraid to. We were dragging her to Taylor’s to look for A, but on the way, she came up with an even better idea. Since her birthday is soon, she thought we should all just hang out at the mall and go watch a movie on Saturday! This sounds tons better than going to prom. B) And it’s technically not anti-prom since it’s just a celebration of her birthday, so I won’t really feel guilty (and My-Linh won’t hunt me down). xD
One of my favorites. I think I’ve watched it about 4 or 5 times now? (That’s not a record in the least :P) Like John Lasseter said about Miyazaki films in general, the more I watched this movie, the more I came to understand it. It’s one of the only Japanese animations I prefer in English. Haha
Watching the “behind the scenes” thing for the the English version of this movie was really got me thinking about the job of translating…
I was supposed to meet Amber & James at the library at 1:00 today. I got there around 12:30 because my mom was driving Kevin to Kumon anyway. …Nobody came, and I eventually called Amber around 3:30. She said she couldn’t come because she had to go to her grandparents’ house. James was supposed to tell me last night. -_-
I’m not really upset or anything, because I was able to get a lot of work done at the library. (Thank goodness I brought my homework and my iPod!) Plus, I found some good movies! :D I’ve been looking for Angels & Demons at the library for a long time, and while I was re-browsing the shelf today, some guy placed a couple of just-returned DVDs back, and there it was! Yay~
And I walked to Yogurtland! It was good. :] Only spent like $2.70. I don’t know if it was because I didn’t get that much, or because Yogurtland is cheaper than Tutti Frutti & Toppings.
"If a 1972 Princeton-bound high-school graduate had put the $34,181 that his four years of college would have cost him into a savings bank at 7.5 percent interest compounded daily, he would have had at age 64 a total of $1,129,200, or $528,200 more than the earnings of a male college graduate, and more than five times as much as the $199,000 extra the more educated man would expect to earn between 22 and 64."
"In fact there is no real evidence that the higher income of college graduates is due to college. College may simply attract people who are slated to earn more money anyway; those with higher IQs, better family backgrounds, a more enterprising temperament. No one who has wrestled with the problem is prepared to attribute all of the higher income to the impact of college itself."
Some interesting support. I don’t know how much the statistics apply today because this was written way back in the 70’s.
